What Is The Rush City Food Shelf?

The Food Shelf accepts non-perishable food items for donation and then distributes these goods to those in need.
 
Donations can be dropped off at any local church or the Rush City Food Shelf during business hours.

The Rush City Food Shelf is a member of Second Harvest Heartland Food Bank.

The Rush City Food Shelf is sponsored by the United Way Twin Cities organization.

Three important annual funding sources:
Hunger Solutions Minnesota state funded annual allocation.
Minnesota FoodShare incentive allocations for participation in the March Campaign.
Feinstein Foundation Challenge-available to all hunger fighting organizations. All donations of food and cash received during March and April are reported to the Feinstein Foundation. Grant amounts are based on the percentage raised compared to all applications nation wide.

The Rush City Food Shelf is a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization.
The Rush City Food Shelf is located in the Rush City Community Center. Adjacent the Countryside Senior Apartments.

Clients must live in the Rush City School District. #139

Proof of address is required ( utility bill etc.)

Food assistance is provided once a month.

The Food Shelf helps:
Seniors on a fixed income
One parent households
Households with no or low-income
Families with high medical bills

The food shelf is open every Tuesday 2:00 to 5:00 pm and the 1st Thursday evening 5:00 to 7:00 pm. ( April - September )
